The Winnipeg Jets begin a four-game homestand at the Canada Life Centre with a matchup against the Montreal Canadiens. The opening puck drop is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. central time.

Three of the Jets’ four opponents this week are Eastern Conference opponents. On Friday, the Jets will host the Dallas Stars and then they will play the New York Rangers on Sunday and the reigning back-to-back Stanley Cup Champions, the Tampa Bay Lightning, a week from today.

Winnipeg is coming into this game after breaking a four-game losing streak with a 5-3 win over the Arizona Coyotes. The Jets finished their most recent road trip with a 1-2-1 record and now trail the second wild card playoff spot by six points.

On the other hand, the Montreal Canadiens have been on fire since Martin St. Louis took the reins as their head coach. The Canadiens are currently on a five-game winning streak, which is the current joint winning streak in the NHL.

Tonight is the first time the Winnipeg Jets and Montreal Canadiens are facing off since they met during the 2021 playoffs

Last postseason, the Jets and Canadiens met in the second round of the playoffs and there was bad blood between the sides. Although the Canadiens won the series handily and swept the Jets out of the postseason, the series was headlined by Mark Scheiefele’s hit on Jake Evans in game one of the series.

When the schedule was released for this regular season, we highlighted this game as one of the must-watch matchups of the season.

Odds

The Winnipeg Jets are listed as the favorites of tonight’s game, courtesy of WynnBET.

This is an interesting matchup considering how even though the Jets are the favorites, Montreal has been the much better team as of late.

Do not let where the Canadiens sit in the standings play a factor in this one, they have been playing outstanding over their last ten games and have been an extremely tough team to beat.
