The Winnipeg Jets host the Dallas Stars at the Canada Life Centre with the opening puck drop scheduled for 7:00 p.m. Central Time.

Although there are just under thirty games remaining in the regular season for both the Jets and the Stars, this game can already be considered a must-win game for the Jets.

Currently, the Stars sit in third place in the Wild Card standings with 63 points in 53 games. Dallas is both one point behind the Nashville Predators, who sit in the first wild card spot, and the Golden Knights who are in the second wild card position. Both of those teams have 64 points. The Jets are in sixth place in the wild card race and have 57 points from 54 games.

The Winnipeg Jets will look to extend their winning streak to three games

After finishing their most recent road trip with a win over the Coyotes, the Jets started this four-game homestand with a crazy 8-4 win over the Montreal Canadiens. During that game, the Jets had a four-goal lead, then blew their lead and ultimately scored four unanswered to win by four goals. You can read our site’s recap of the game by clicking the link here.

Dallas last played Tuesday night against the Kings on home ice. Dallas was down 3-1 in the second period, but then scored three unanswered goals during the second frame and held on in the third period to win 4-3.

Odds

The Winnipeg Jets come into tonight’s game as the underdogs, courtesy of WynnBET.

This is the fourth and final time that the Jets and Stars will meet during this regular season and each prior matchup has gone down to the wire. As a matter of fact, the three prior meetings between these sides have required either overtime or a shootout to decide.

The Jets won the first regular season matchup in a shootout, while the Stars have won the most recent two games in overtime.

If the past is any indication of what may happen then expect this to be another close matchup between Central Division foes, especially with both of these sides looking to get into playoff position.
