The Winnipeg Jets complete their short two-game road trip with a highly intriguing game against the Toronto Maple Leafs tonight at the Scotiabank Arena. The opening puck drop is set for 6:00 p.m. Central Time.

This is the second game of a back-to-back for the Jets as they were in action last night in Buffalo. The Jets started the trip well by picking up a 2-1 shootout victory over the Sabres yesterday evening.

That win now gives the Jets a three-game winning streak and they have picked up their game in March posting a 10-4-1 record. This has put them in the hunt for a Western Conference Wild Card playoff spot.

The Maple Leafs have also been playing well. They are riding a two-game winning streak coming into tonight’s game. Those two wins have also come against some of the top teams in the Eastern Conference the Florida Panthers and Boston Bruins. Toronto currently sits in third place in the Atlantic Division.

The last time the Winnipeg Jets and Toronto Maple Leafs played there were over 50 penalty minutes and two subsequent suspensions

Winnipeg and Toronto met once before during this season, back on December 5, and it was a heated game. The Jets walked away with a 6-3 win, but suspensions and fines were distributed to some players after the game.

Wayne Simmonds was fined $2,250 for cross-checking Jansen Harkins and Neal Pionk was suspended two games for kneeing Rasmus Sandin. Jason Spezza got the biggest punishment out of any player in this game as he was first suspended six games for keeping Neal Pionk in the head, but after appeal, his suspension was reduced to four games.

The last time these sides met felt like a playoff rivalry game and I would expect to see a similar game tonight as the Jets are battling to make the playoffs, while the Maple Leafs are battling for playoff positioning.

Odds

The Winnipeg Jets are listed as the underdogs in this matchup, courtesy of WynnBET.

The Maple Leafs have been a force on home ice this season as they have a 24-7-2 record and have a five-game point streak at home (4-0-1 record).

Winnipeg is coming into this game after playing last night and has a great record on the road this month (4-1-0).  Also in March, the Jets have a 1-1-0 record in the second game of games on consecutive nights.
