The Winnipeg Jets are in the Big Apple for the fifth game of their six-game road trip as they take on the New York Rangers tonight at Madison Square Garden. The opening puck drop for tonight’s game is scheduled for 6:00 p.m. central time.
This game marks the first time Morgan Barron and Andrew Copp will be facing their former teams since the trade the Jets and Rangers made at the Trade Deadline.
After arriving in Winnipeg in the trade, the twenty-three-year-old Barron spent time in the AHL with the Manitoba Moose before making his debut with the Jets. He has played in eight games with Winnipeg scoring one goal and adding one assist while amassing a minus-five plus/minus.
The former Jets’ 2013 fourth-round draft pick, Copp has impressed since arriving in New York. In 13 games with his new club, he is a point-per-game player with five goals, eight assists, and a plus-nine plus/minus.
The Winnipeg Jets will look to get back to their winning ways against the New York Rangers
The Jets started this road trip extremely well, winning two straight games, but they faltered during the weekend, losing a back-to-back in the Sunshine State against the Flordia Panthers and Tampa Bay Lightning.
On the other hand, the Rangers are in a battle for the top spot in the Metropolitan Division. They are on a two-game winning streak after beating the Flyers and Red Wings.
Odds
The Winnipeg Jets are listed as the underdogs in this game, courtesy of WynnBET.
The Jets have been struggling as of late and come to Madison Square Garden where opposing teams have struggled to win. The Rangers have a 25-8-4 record on home ice.
These sides met once before this season, back in March at the Canada Life Centre, and the Jets were no match to the Rangers losing 4-1.
