Winnipeg Jets Finally Beat the Colorado Avalanche for First Time in 21-22
The Winnipeg Jets faced a tough task on their return to the Canada Life Centre for the first time after a six-game road trip as they faced off against the Western Conference leaders, the Colorado Avalanche.
Going into the final regular season matchup between these Central Division foes, the Jets had not beaten the Avalanche so far this season, going winless in their prior three meetings.
Last night, the Jets were the better of the two sides but could not find a way to beat Darcy Kuemper in net until the third period.
The Winnipeg Jets scored four unanswered third period goals to beat the Colorado Avalanche
The Jets and Avalanche entered the third period in a goalless tie, but five minutes into the final frame, J.T. Compher scored to put the Avalanche ahead.
It took the Jets four minutes to answer courtesy of an Adam Lowry tip-in goal and then the Jets found their scoring touch to lead them to victory.
Then just over a minute later, Blake Wheeler scored on a rebound to give the Jets the lead for the first time in this game.
Kyle Connor then scored two minutes later on a beautiful move to beat Kuemper and extend the Jets’ lead to two goals.
Nikolaj Ehlers then put the icing on the cake, during the closing stages of the game, as he scored off the faceoff to give the Jets a 4-1 lead.
The Jets held on to their three-goal lead to beat Colorado 4-1 and break their four-game losing streak.
Two Jets Hit Milestones in the Win
Kyle Connor scored his 45th goal this season, which sets the Winnipeg Jets franchise record for goals during a regular season.
Connor Hellebuyck, who is in his seventh season with the Jets, hit a personal milestone last night as he notched his 200th career victory.
