The Winnipeg Jets‘ search for their next head coach is in full swing. Last week, the Jets front office reportedly interviewed the third-most winningest coach in NHL history, Barry Trotz for the vacant position.

The rumors of who may lead the Jets next season has been the story of the offseason for the Jets. Over this past weekend, news broke that the Jets may interview a candidate that has an immense amount of experience with the franchise to be their next bench boss.

Sportsnet reporter, Elliotte Friedman said on his 32 Thoughts segment that the Jets are expected to interview Pascal Vincent. You can watch the full video of Friedman’s 32 Thoughts by clicking the link here.

The Winnipeg Jets may be interviewing Pascal Vincent to be their next head coach and Vincent is extremely familiar with the Jets franchise

It is only been one full season since Vincent departed the Jets franchise as Manitoba Moose head coach to become an assistant coach with the Columbus Blue Jackets.

Prior to joining Columbus, the now fifty-year-old Vincent spent ten seasons with Winnipeg including being an assistant coach with the Jets from 2011 to 2016 and being the head coach of the Moose from 2016 to 2021.

During Vincent’s five seasons in charge of the Moose, Manitoba only qualified for the postseason once and only posted a record over .600 once.

The one thing that separates Vincent from the other candidates that may be considered by Kevin Cheveldayoff and the Jets’ front office is that Vincent has firsthand experience coaching many of the players who are currently on the Jets.

Vincent is especially familiar with the younger players having coached them at the AHL level and he should be able to hop right into the thick of things without having to get acclimated to a new environment.
