Winnipeg Jets hockey is back tonight. Although the Jets 2022 preseason games do not begin until September 25 and training camp has not begun, the Jets’ top prospects will be in action from tonight through Monday at the 2022 Young Stars Classic in Penticton, British Columbia.

The Jets are one of four teams competing in the ninth edition of this prestigious tournament. The other three franchises with prospect teams in this tournament are the Vancouver Canucks, Edmonton Oilers, and Calgary Flames.

Winnipeg’s first game is this evening at 6:00 p.m. central time versus the Edmonton Oilers at the South Okanagan Events Centre.

Tonight will be fun to watch as we will get to see three of the Jets’ last four first-round draft picks in action. Those players include Cole Perfetti (2020), Chaz Lucius (2021), and Brad Lambert (2022). Rutger McGroarty, who was also selected in the first round of this past draft, will not be participating in the tournament because he plays at the NCAA collegiate level for the University of Michigan.

On defense, the Jets have the likes of Dimitry Kuzmin and Tyrel Bauer on their roster. Both of these players played in the CHL this past season. Kuzmin had an outstanding season in the OHL with the Flint Firebirds while Bauer was the captain of the Seattle Thunderbirds who lost in the WHL championship.

It should be fun to watch all of these players tonight as this will be their first impression in the hopes of making the Jets roster for the upcoming season.
