The Winnipeg Jets are on the road this evening in Edmonton as they kick off their 2022 preseason campaign.
At 5:00 p.m. central time, the preseason officially begins for the Jets as they square off against the Edmonton Oilers at Rogers Place.
Training camp only started Thursday for both of these teams and both sides will have plenty of players at their disposal to choose from for tonight’s matchup. There are 50 players competing at Jets’ camp, while the Oilers have 52 players at theirs. The Jets players who are not competing in this game will be practicing this morning.
Both Morgan Barron and Wyatt Bongiovanni will miss this game for the Jets as they both have injuries, but they are expected to return soon.
The preseason begins this evening for the Winnipeg Jets
One storyline coming into this game is that it is Rick Bowness’ first game as the new head coach of the Jets. Although it is an exhibition game, this matchup could give us an early indication of some of the strategies Bowness’ side may employ during the season.
Bowness indicated after day one of training camp, that he wants the Jets’ defense to be more active, especially on offense. It will be interesting to watch how offensively involved the Jets’ defensemen get during this opening preseason game.
