The Winnipeg Jets are on home ice tonight for the first time since last May 1 as they have their preseason home opener this evening.

At 7:00 p.m. central time (8:00 p.m. eastern) the Jets will match up against the Ottawa Senators at the Canada Life Centre.

This is game two of the preseason for the Jets. On Sunday, the Jets kicked off their preseason against the Oilers. The Jets dressed a largely inexperienced roster for that matchup in Edmonton and they lost 4-0 at Rogers Place.

Only four players from Sunday night’s game will be in the lineup for the Winnipeg Jets tonight

Yesterday, the Jets revealed their roster for this game. Out of the 18 skaters that are named below, only four of these players skated in Sunday’s loss. Those players are Saku Maenalanen, Dominic Toninato, Mikey Eyssimont, and Cole Perfetti.

The Jets’ will have an all-new defense and goaltending tandem for their second preseason game. There should be a great battle to watch on defense tonight as Ville Heinola, Simon Lundmark, and Dylan Samberg are all battling for NHL roster spots.

It will be also interesting to see how Rick Bowness handles the Jets’ goaltending situation tonight. We could see the Jets’ goaltenders split the workload this evening, but Bowness has yet to indicate what Winnipeg will do.

The players who are not playing for the Jets will be skating this morning at the team’s practice facility.

The Senators are coming into this exhibition game after playing this past weekend. Ottawa had split-squad games against the Toronto Maple Leafs and the sides split the two contests with Ottawa winning one game and Toronto winning the other game.

Compared to the Jets roster, which is filled with plenty of NHL regulars, the Senators are bringing a younger and more inexperienced roster to Winnipeg and it should be a great test for these players as they look to make the Senators’ opening night roster.
