Winnipeg Jets vs. Montreal Canadiens: 2022 Preseason Game 3 Preview
The Winnipeg Jets are back on the road for their third game of the preseason as they face off against the Montreal Canadiens at the Bell Centre tonight.
Tonight’s opening puck drop in Montreal is scheduled for 6:00 p.m. central time (7:00 p.m. Eastern).
The Jets are coming into this game looking for back-to-back preseason wins. On Tuesday night, Winnipeg won their preseason home opener 5-3 against the Ottawa Senators.
Jets’ head coach, Rick Bowness was not pleased with the Jets’ performance in the win and expressed his frustrations about the shift length times of some of the Jets’ veteran players. Therefore, the shift times of the Jets’ forwards will be a storyline to watch in tonight’s game.
Lambert, Gagner, and Schmidt will make their preseason debuts for the Winnipeg Jets in Montreal
The Jets released their roster for this game yesterday (which is listed below) and we will see Brad Lambert make his NHL preseason debut tonight.
Lambert was outstanding with the Jets in the Young Stars Classic prospect tournament prior to training camp and already started making a case for himself to make the Jets’ roster. Unfortunately, the 2022 30th overall draft choice missed the first week of training camp due to an injury. Tonight will be our first chance to see Lambert against NHL opposition.
Also, veterans Sam Gagner and Nate Schmidt will be making their 2022 preseason debuts this evening. The Jets signed the thirty-three-year-old Gagner to a one-year contract this offseason and Schmidt is returning for his second season with the Jets.
Another storyline to keep an eye on is the Jets’ defense. The trio of Ville Heinola, Dylan Samberg, and Logan Stanley are scheduled to play. These three players are battling it out to be the sixth defenseman on Winnipeg’s roster.
The Canadiens played last night in Toronto and lost to the Maple Leafs 3-0. There has yet to be an indication on who Montreal will dress in tonight’s matchup.
Tonight will also be the third game of Montreal’s preseason. They have yet to win a preseason game and lost both of their games in regulation. On Monday, they lost to the New Jersey Devils 2-1 on home ice.
