The Winnipeg Jets have two games in two nights starting tonight with a matchup against the Calgary Flames. The opening puck drop is set for 9:00 p.m. central time (8:00 p.m. mountain time).

After tonight’s game, the Jets will head west to the Climate Pledge Arena to take on the Seattle Kraken tomorrow night. This game has a 7:00 p.m. CT start.

Tonight’s game is an interesting matchup as the Jets are red-hot, on a three-game winning streak and a seven-game point streak, while the Flames are ice-cold, on a seven-game losing streak.

The Winnipeg Jets face the Calgary Flames who are back on home ice after a tough road trip

From this past Monday through Thursday, the Flames were on the East Coast for a three-game Eastern Conference road trip.

All looked well for the Flames in their first game of this trip against the New York Islanders as the Flames had a 3-1 lead after two periods. With under ten minutes left in regulation, the Flames allowed two goals in under a minute and then lost in overtime.

Then the next night, the Flames outshot the New Jersey Devils 35-20 but lost 3-2 in regulation. Finally, on Thursday evening, Calgary lost the last game of their trip to the Eastern Conference leading, Boston Bruins 3-1.

It is not like the Flames have played terribly during this tough stretch, out of their seven straight losses, five of them have been by one goal, and two games needed to be decided by overtime. After the loss in Boston, Darryl Sutter expressed this narrative of how the Flames are playing well, but not just getting results:

Regardless of how these teams have been performing coming into this one, I expect the Flames to pose a tough task for the Jets. Winnipeg rose to the occasion in their last game with their 5-1 thrashing of the Dallas Stars and it will be interesting to watch if the Jets can rise to the occasion again, but this time against a struggling team.
