2. Blake Wheeler Scores His 300th Career Goal at a Crucial Time
Wheeler’s 300th NHL career goal could not have come at a more crucial time for his team. With the Jets on the man advantage in the final minute of regulation, they pulled Rittich.
The former Jets captain went to the front of the net and provided a screen as the Jets threw everything they had at the Kraken’s net in an effort to tie the game.
The Jets worked the puck to Kyle Connor, who was on the top of the faceoff circle to the right of Seattle’s net, and Connor ripped a one-timer.
The shot found its way through a sea of bodies and hit the Kraken’s netminder and created a loose rebound.
Wheeler was the first one to the rebound and slotted the puck home to tie the game, send it into overtime, and seal a point for the Jets.
The thirty-six-year-old Wheeler is only one of 214 players in the history of the NHL to score 300 goals and the forward did it in 1,060 games.
