Brayden Schenn, another good player stuck on a bad team

I have one word to describe the St. Louis Blues season so far. TERRIBLE. Coached by Mike Yeo, (Until he just was fired) the Blues haven’t had much going well for them this season. They’re currently stuck at the bottom of the Central Division, a spot they likely won’t be getting out of.

Now look at Brayden Schenn. He’s a natural centreman, however is stuck on the right wing. He’s a guy who can put up around 50-55 points in a season, and was able to notch 70 last year. This year hasn’t been bad, but definitely not as successful as his last campaign. In my opinion, Schenn just hasn’t been put with the right guys to put up numbers like before. He needs a better place to play.

Last season, the Winnipeg Jets called up the Blues at the deadline, taking Paul Stastny off their hands. Winnipeg could do it again this season, instead they would be looking at a heftier price tag. That’s because it’s earlier in the season and Schenn still has another year on his deal.

We’d probably be talking giving up a few picks/prospects, however the option for a cap dump wouldn’t be possible with the Blues, as they don’t have much cap space at all. Unless it was a three team deal, we’d likely be looking at making a move right after to make more space, which again would be costly.

I think Schenn could have just as much, if not more success than Stastny did when he came in at the NHL Trade Deadline. Like William Karlsson, having this guy on your second line with Kyle Connor and Patrik Laine would be a very, very scary situation for every other team.
