Mikael Granlund

Mikael Granlund is another player that the Winnipeg Jets know well from Central division battles when he was a member of the Minnesota Wild and Nashville Predators. He is a versatile forward who has played center and left wing. Granlund only had 30 points last season but is only three seasons removed from notching 69 and 67 points respectively as a member of the Wild.

As with the other players mentioned, Granlund provides some quality depth for the Jets in terms of injuries. He is a player that could slot into the top six in multiple positions if needed due to injuries.

Once again given the unique challenges of this season, Granlund may be available at a bargain price. He made $5.7 million last season which he likely will not receive this season. Perhaps he would consider an offer to stay within the friendly confines of the Central Division for a one-year deal for close to $4 million, or perhaps a front-loaded two-year deal for $6 million total.

Teams have a unique opportunity this season due to the uncertainty surrounding everything from the salary cap to when the season will start. The Jets need to take advantage of some of these opportunities to build their roster.
