The Winnipeg Jets 2021 Schedule was released yesterday afternoon and there is an interesting first game to start the season for the Jets.

Many Winnipeg Jets fans remember the heartbreak of last August. The Jets qualified for the Stanley Cup Qualifiers as the number nine seed and got to face one of their rivals, the Calgary Flames, in a best-of-five series to make it to the playoffs.

In the first game, the Jets lost both Mark Scheifele and Patrik Laine to injury. Scheifele was victim to a questionable Matthew Tkachuk hit, just under six minutes into the series.

The Jets could not match the Flames firepower, after losing two of their star forwards, and lost the series three games to one.

Many people were upset by the Tkachuk hit that injured Scheifele including Jets head coach, Paul Maurice. He called the hit “disgusting.” Ultimately, Scheifele forgave Tkachuk.

Fast forward to now, yesterday the NHL released the schedules for each team for the 2021 NHL season and the Winnipeg Jets get to see the team that eliminated them in the qualifiers. The Jets’ opening game is against the Calgary Flames on January 14, in Winnipeg at Bell MTS Place.

What better way to get some revenge over the team that knocked you out in the 2020 postseason than beating them in the opening game of the season?

Expect the Jets to play with a lot of intensity and passion on opening night and in all of their regular season encounters with the Flames.

All in total the Jets and Flames will face off against each other nine times during the 2021 campaign. There will also be a four-game stretch in early February where Winnipeg and Calgary will see each other for four straight games.

The Jets can quickly erase the heartbreak of last postseason with a solid showing against Calgary this year. Expect these games to be intense, physical, and extremely exciting to watch.
