Sunday night was a tough night for the Winnipeg Jets. They were so close to forcing their game against the Edmonton Oilers into overtime, but Edmonton scored with one second left to give the Jets a heartbreaking loss.

The great news for the Jets is tonight they get another crack at the Oilers. The Jets and Oilers will finish their two-game series this evening at Bell MTS Place. The game is scheduled to start at 7:00 p.m. Central Time.

Tonight’s game is the Jets’ third game of their current seven-game homestand in which they currently have a 1-1-0 record. After tonight the Jets host the Canucks on Saturday night, then they start a four-game series against the Calgary Flames.

The Winnipeg Jets can maintain their successful start with a win tonight

The Jets have looked strong in the early part of the season and a win this evening would improve their record to 5-2-0. In the long run every point matters. Expect the Jets to start strong after the defeat they suffered in their last outing.

Odds

The Action network lists the Jets as the underdogs for their second straight game against the Oilers.

Expect tonight to be another close game between these two sides. The sharper goaltender will make the difference in tonight’s contest.

One change that the Jets will be making to their Sunday night roster is Connor Hellebuyck looks set to get the start in goal after Laurent Brossoit started on Sunday.

We could also see Kristian Vesalainen come back into the lineup and replace David Gustafsson, who made his season debut last game. This move would move Mathieu Perreault up to the third line and Vesalinen would play on the fourth line with Harkins and Lewis.

The Jets’ defensive pairings are projected to remain the same.

The Jets are projected to lineup like this:

Connor-Scheifele-Wheeler
Copp-Stastny-Ehlers
Perreault-Lowry-Appleton
