Although the Winnipeg Jets still have one game left to play in the 2021 regular season, with a 5-0 win over the Vancouver Canucks in their last game, the Jets are locked into the third seed in the North Division.

That means the Winnipeg Jets will be starting their quest for the Stanley Cup against the Edmonton Oilers in a first round best-of-seven series.

The Winnipeg Jets will have an intriguing first round matchup against the Edmonton Oilers

Here’s an early preview of the Jets vs. Oilers series:

The Season Series

These teams met for the first time this season in late January for a two-game mini-series with the Jets and Oilers splitting those two meetings.

In February, the third game went Winnipeg’s way as they won a 6-5 thriller, even though they were outshot 24-45 by the Oilers.

After that game, it has all gone Edmonton’s way.

The Oilers have won the last six meetings between these sides and have outscored the Jets 21-7 in those six contests.

Edmonton dominated the season series with a 7-2-0 record and are the favorites to win this matchup, but the playoffs over prior years have shown us that the regular season stats between teams are no indication of which team will win a series.

The Schedule

Since the Oilers finished second in the North Division, they will have home ice advantage throughout this series. Games one, two, five, and seven will be in Edmonton and the remaining three games will be at Bell MTS Place.

The series will start on Wednesday night at Rogers Place and will be televised on CBC, SN, TVAS, and NBCSN.
