The Winnipeg Jets are back in action tonight after their three-day off period as they host the New Jersey Devils at the Canada Life Centre. The opening puck drop for tonight’s game is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. central time.

The Jets are coming into this game after being shut out by the Arizona Coyotes on Monday night. Although the Jets outshot the Coyotes 46-15, all the Coyotes needed was one goal to win as Karel Vejmelka stopped every shot he faced en route to the 1-0 win.

With that loss, the Jets have lost six of their past seven games and, after last night’s results, they have dropped down to sixth in the Central Division.

This is the second game on back-to-back nights for the Devils. Last night they were in Minnesota for a matchup against the Wild.

Minnesota opened the game with three unanswered goals and the Devils had to try and come back the rest of the game. Although at one point in the second period the Devils trailed by one goal, they could not mount a comeback and ultimately lost 5-2 to the Wild.

The Winnipeg Jets look for their first victory against an Eastern Conference opponent this season

So far this season the Jets have lost all three games against teams from the East and it is interesting to note that those three teams play in the Metropolitan Division. Winnipeg has been shut out twice in those matchups and has been outscored 8-2 by Metro Division opponents.

Odds

The Jets have been extremely inconsistent as of late and are coming against the Devils who played last night. New Jersey is 1-0-1 in the second game of a back-to-back.

As mentioned above, Winnipeg has struggled mightily against Eastern Conference teams. The Jets will definitely be looking to end this streak this evening.
