What a crazy week it has been for the Winnipeg Jets 2020 NHL Entry Draft tenth overall selection, Cole Perfetti.
Just days ago, he was representing Canada at the 2022 IIHF World Junior Championship and was making a great case for himself to be named as the tournament’s most valuable player.
Through two games, the nineteen-year-old had one goal and four assists and was leading the tournament in points (five) and assists (four). But then unfortunately due to COVID concerns, the prestigious tournament was canceled.
Since the tournament has been canceled, Perfetti was then reassigned to Manitoba to gear up for the Manitoba Moose’s upcoming games. But today he was called recalled to Winnipeg’s taxi squad.
The Winnipeg Jets have recalled Cole Perfetti from the Manitoba Moose and have assigned the top prospect to the taxi squad
Perfetti was on the ice today at Jets’ practice and was put on the left wing on a line with Adam Lowry at center and Kristian Reichel on the right wing. Dave Lowry and the Jets coaching staff also had Perfetti practicing on their top powerplay unit.
With this being noted, there is a great chance that Perfetti may come into the lineup when the Jets return to action on Sunday, January 2, in Las Vegas against the Golden Knights.
Perfetti made his NHL debut earlier this season in the Jets opening game of this regular season. He then appeared in Winnipeg’s next game, before being sent down to the Moose.
In those two games, Perfetti did not register a point, he had one shot, and a minus-two plus/minus.
In seventeen contests in the AHL with the Moose this season, Perfetti has six goals and nine assists with a plus-six plus/minus.
Also, Perfetti will be turning twenty years old tomorrow on New Year’s Day.
