The 2022 Stanley Cup Playoff field is set, the matchups are locked in, and the schedule is out, but before they begin tomorrow, there is one more NHL game to be played before the 2021-2022 NHL regular season is done.

That game is today at 1:00 p.m. central time between the Winnipeg Jets and Seattle Kraken at the Canada Life Centre. This game was originally supposed to be played on April 13, but Manitoba was hit with a blizzard which forced the game to be canceled and rescheduled.

The Winnipeg Jets look to end their regular season on a high note with a multi-game winning streak

The Jets are coming into today’s matinee matchup playing outstanding hockey in their season-ending homestand.

Winnipeg is currently on a three-game winning streak after beating the Avalanche 4-1 on Sunday, the Flyers 4-0 on Wednesday, and the Flames 3-1 on Friday. A win today for the Jets would their with their longest winning streak of the season (four games).

Seattle is coming into this game after picking up a 3-0 shutout win over the San Jose Sharks on Friday. Before that win, the Kraken dropped their prior four games.

Can This Game Have an Effect on Draft Lottery Odds?

Yes, the result of this game can have implications on Kraken’s odds for the first overall pick at the draft lottery.

Currently, the Kraken have the third-worst amount of points in the NHL, but a win today or even an overtime or shootout loss would move them past the Philadelphia Flyers and therefore lower their probability to get the first overall selection.

The odds of winning the first pick from the third-worst point total (where the Kraken enter today’s game) is 11.5%, while if the Kraken pick up a point it goes down to 9.5%.

The Jets are in a different situation. They are locked in as the fourteenth overall seed in the lottery and they have no chance of obtaining the number one overall selection because the rules state a team can only move up ten draft spots. Only the bottom eleven teams have a chance of getting the first pick.

Odds

The Winnipeg Jets come into this game listed as the favorites, courtesy of WynnBET.

The Jets have a chance to sweep the season series against Seattle as they have won the prior two meetings between these sides.

Also, the Jets have been on a winning streak and have been substantially better on home ice than on the road, while the Kraken have struggled away from home with an 11-26-3 record.
