Today was an exciting day around the NHL as Adidas revealed the reverse retro jerseys for each NHL franchise for this season.
Adidas started this reserve retro jersey concept for the 2021 season and released jerseys during that shortened season, but they did not unveil new ones for each team during the last season.
The reserve retros are back for this 2022-2023 season and we got to see some interesting jerseys as each franchise announced theirs. These new reserve retros had some teams in their vintage old fashion logos which fanbases have grown to love including the New York Islanders’ fisherman logo, the New York Rangers Statue of Liberty Logo, the Vancouver Canucks Johnny Canuck logo, and many others. You can see all of the jerseys here.
The Winnipeg Jets’ new jersey puts a spin on a classic logo and you can read all about the Jets’ new alternates by clicking the link here or by visiting the “NEXT” link at the bottom of this article.
Twitter has reacted to the Winnipeg Jets’ reverse retro jerseys
There is no general consensus on Twitter about the Jets’ new jerseys. Some people love them, others disapprove, and some feel indifferent.
The first comment is courtesy of one of our site’s contributors, Brian Finlayson, who expressed his approval of these jerseys:
I like these a lot. https://t.co/fsqaHcE5jd

This user has both positives and negatives about these jerseys. They love the logo but do not like how plain the jerseys are:
All I'll say towards the #NHLJets #ReverseRetro jerseys, is they look like practice jerseys, so plain...LOVE the 90s logo though!

AND what's up with the absence of red?! A little red would make the jersey pop!
This tweet emphasizes that the reverse retros are jerseys and nothing more. They do add that the lack of red may play a factor in this jersey not being very popular.
It’s a jersey and that’s about it. The lack of any red accents, just like the aviator jersey, probably won’t make this one very popular. Meh. https://t.co/1lHLwOfZ1m

This comment is along those same lines, stating that a little more red in these jerseys would make them pop:
If there was hints of red on the jersey would make it pop out more but still W jersey looks nice

Here is one negative comment as to the color scheme of the new uniforms
It just doesn’t pop, love that logo but that baby blue makes it look washed out.

This user is disappointed with Winnipeg’s retros and that the Jets should have stayed with the “aviator blue” color:
Just can't seem to get it right. Keep the "aviator blue" color scheme for the lulu store. Heritage home and away were beauties. Other fans commented on how nice they are. Dropped the ball again. Can't seem to listen to their fans and top selling jerseys (heritage) disappointing!

This user is also disappointed with these jerseys:
Am I the only one disappointed?
— Answer to the Gaffer (@ToxicFrostbite4) October 20, 2022
And finally, this user believes the Jets have the ugliest jersey:
Of course we would end up with the ugliest jersey

These reactions show that there is no agreement in Jets’ country regarding the new reverse retro jerseys.
