Yesterday, the Winnipeg Jets announced that one of their forwards, Morgan Barron would miss their next game against the Montreal Canadiens at the Canada Life Centre.
There was no indication of what injury Barron had sustained or how long the twenty-three-year-old forward would be sidelined for.
It was revealed today by Jets’ bench boss Rick Bowness that Barron had wrist surgery and will be out for four to five weeks.
Winnipeg Jets Forward, Morgan Barron will be sidelined for 4-5 weeks
This is Barron’s first full season with the Jets after he arrived at the 2022 trade deadline in the trade that sent Andrew Copp to the New York Rangers. He then went on to play 14 games with the Jets at the end of the 2021-2022 season and he had two goals and two assists.
To start this season, Barron had an increased role and was playing well to help the Jets share the top spot of the Central Division into November. The Halifax native played in all of Winnipeg’s nine regular season games and amassed one goal, two assists, a plus-two plus/minus, and averaged 12:58 of ice time per game.
This injury is unfortunate for the young forward who was in the midst of his first full NHL season. Barron was playing a middle-six role and also is one of the Jets’ top penalty killing forwards.
The Jets have yet to announce if they are placing Barron on the Long Term Injured Reserve (“LTIR”) and therefore they have yet to reveal any subsequent roster moves due to Barron’s injury.
