Winnipeg Jets goalie Ondrej Pavelec was fantastic last week, leading the team to four straight wins. He only allowed 4 goals during that time with 113 saves.
Before this 4-game winning streak, Michael Hutchison was handling the net-minding duties for the Jets. He was struggling mightily, allowing 11 goals over a 4-game span. One of the games featured the 25-year-old allowing 4 goals and only saving 3 shots. Since coach Paul Maurice made the goalie change, it has paid great dividends for the Jets.
Pavelec’s next test will be on Monday night against the Edmonton Oilers. After that, they face the Vancouver Canucks on Tuesday and the Montreal Canadiens on Thursday. Barring a meltdown, expect Maurice to ride Pavelec for the rest of the week to help steer the Jets into the playoffs.
