The Winnipeg Jets captain, Blake Wheeler, is coming into his thirteenth season in the NHL. How many points will he score in the upcoming season?
Not many players have a great career like Blake Wheeler of the Winnipeg Jets. Wheeler is and has been the captain for the Jets the past four seasons and has played in 931 regular season games. In those games, he has amassed 264 goals and 497 assists. Throughout his career, Wheeler has averaged an impressive total of 0.82 points per game.
Last year was not Wheeler’s best in terms of statistics compared to the two years prior. In both the 2017-2018 and 2018-2019 seasons, Wheeler had 91 points. In 2017-2018 he had 23 goals and 68 assists, while leading Winnipeg to the Stanley Cup Playoffs and a Western Conference Finals appearance.

2018-2019 Wheeler had a few more helpers and a couple less goals. He finished the season with 20 goals and 71 assists. Last year was a different story for the thirty-four-year old.
Last season in 71 games, Wheeler had 22 goals and 43 assists for 65 points. His goal totals stayed consistent with prior seasons, but his assists total dropped significantly from 68 to 43, which was an eye-opening stat to may people.
I do expect Wheeler to score at least 20 goals for the eighth straight consecutive season, but will average a similar number of assists and points per game as last season.
In the upcoming 56-game season, our prediction is Wheeler will score 20 goals, have 32 assists for a total of 52 points.
